The Titans Hockey Union took the Bauer Winter Championships and thus earned home ice in every game during the playoffs, meaning Titans Head Coach Garrett Meger will have last change the entire Prospects Cup, and he’ll need it to match lines with a powerfully offensive Langley Hockey Academy squad led by Landon and Liam Pue.
The phenom Liam, who turned 15 in February and will be a high WHL draft pick in May, received exceptional status from the JPHL to play in the 18U division, the first player to receive such a distinction. Pue didn’t disappoint. The 6 foot 2 inch, right-hander with an edge to his game scored 30 goals in 29 games while adding 20 assists. His older brother Landon finished one point back with 19 goals and 30 helpers in 30 games.
Of Liam Pue’s 30 goals, Landon Pue had an assist on 16 of them.
The Titans did hold them both scoreless this season in a November game but the Titans' big, mobile and physical defence led by Seattle Thunderbirds draft pick Ethan Creran will have their hands full with a Langley team full of 6 double-digit goal scorers and 4 players with a point per game average or better.
But don’t sleep on the Titans Hockey Union offence, especially from blueliner Landon Scott. He scored twice in the Winter Championships title game and has 4 goals in 5 games so far in the playoffs, after a 5 goal regular season! Big game goals are his specialty as he also scored the overtime winner to knock out Calgary in round one.
Up front JPHL 3 year veteran Luke Van Imschoot who could end up playing 110 career games if the series goes the distance, is heating up with 4 goals in his last 6 games going back to February 15th and has 5 points in 5 playoff games after notching 30 in 26 games during the regular season.
