In a game that featured a chaotic first period and a dramatic third, the Langley HA 18U AAA squad outlasted the Coquitlam HC 18U AAA team in a 5-4 barnburner. The contest got off to a fiery start, with a massive scrum at the 3:49 mark of the opening period resulting in a parade to the penalty box, including misconducts to Langley's Mathew Gordon, Owen Corscadden, and Hudson Wright, as well as Coquitlam's Blake Miller, Linden Hart, and Jacob Keller. Amidst the chaos, Coquitlam's Dexter Jung managed to find the back of the net, assisted by Dominic Allegretto, to give the visitors an early lead. Langley's goaltender, Colton Bush, weathered a 37-shot storm from Coquitlam to backstop his team to victory.
The middle frame saw Langley seize control of the game. Kalen Okeymow evened the score early, set up by Riley Sytsma, before Nolan Oxtoby gave Langley their first lead of the night with help from Jackson Schroeder. Coquitlam answered back on the power play before the period ended, with Nathan Hillmann converting a setup from Christiano D'Addabbo and Colby Monette to tie the game at 2-2 heading into a wild third period. The final twenty minutes were an offensive showcase. Coquitlam's Monette put his team back in front, but Langley responded with two quick goals from Kaden West and Sevak Gill to swing the momentum firmly in their favor.
With the game on the line, Langley's Nolan Oxtoby proved to be the hero, netting his second goal of the game—the game-winner—with just 2:44 left on the clock. Coquitlam's Colby Monette also scored his second of the period in the final minute to make it a nail-biting 5-4 finish, but Langley held on for the win. Despite being outshot 17-11 in the third period, Langley's opportunistic offense, led by Oxtoby's clutch performance and a multi-point night from Kaden West, secured a hard-fought two points in this Junior Prospects Hockey League matchup.
