The Langley HA 18U AAA squad authored a masterclass in opportunistic hockey and goaltending excellence, defeating the Victoria HA 5-2 in a game where the shot clock told a wildly misleading story. From the opening faceoff, Victoria applied relentless pressure, outshooting Langley 25-10 in the first period alone. Yet, it was Langley who struck first and fast. Just over four minutes in, Sevak Gill found the back of the net, assisted by Jackson Schroeder. The momentum swung further in Langley's favor less than a minute later when a Victoria penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct led to immediate paydirt. On the ensuing sequence, Kaden West scored, with Liam Keith picking up the helper, giving Langley a stunning 2-0 lead despite being thoroughly outplayed territorially. The story of the period, and the game, was Langley goaltender Colton Bush, who turned aside all 25 of Victoria's first-period shots to preserve the early advantage.
Victoria continued to pour on the offense in the second, firing another 21 shots, but they finally solved Bush midway through the frame. Anderson Lewis got Victoria on the board at 14:25, assisted by Cole McNabb and Mitch Collins. The visitors then drew even at 6:00 on a goal from Bryce Heggie, with Wyatt Martel and Abi Maas earning assists. Just as it seemed Victoria's barrage would overwhelm Langley, the home team responded. Liam Keith restored Langley's lead with the eventual game-winner at 3:57, assisted by Logan Boudot, sending Langley to the intermission with a 3-2 lead they scarcely seemed to deserve based on the flow of play. The period was marred by physical play, with Victoria's Jackson Buie and Oliver Pemberton each taking minor penalties.
Any hopes of a Victoria comeback were extinguished in the third period by a combination of Bush's continued brilliance and Langley's lethal efficiency. Bush stopped all 11 shots he faced in the final frame, finishing with a remarkable 38 saves on 40 shots for a .950 save percentage. At the other end, Langley made their limited chances count. Kaden West netted his second of the game at 11:17, again from Jackson Schroeder, to provide crucial insurance. Liam Keith then sealed the victory with his second goal of the contest at 8:44, completing a three-point night (2 goals, 1 assist) with another assist from Logan Boudot. A late boarding penalty by Langley's Benjamin Gibson did little to slow the home team's march to a decisive 5-2 victory, a testament to an incredible individual performance in net by Colton Bush and a ruthlessly clinical attack from Langley's forwards.
