The Island HC 18U AAA squad delivered a masterclass in defensive hockey and opportunistic scoring, blanking the Okanagan HC 18U AAA team 4-0 on the road. The story of the game was written in the crease and on the scoresheet, as Island goaltender Aneel Parmar, wearing number 1, turned aside all 23 shots he faced for a clean sheet. His counterpart, Okanagan's William Marshall, faced a relentless barrage, especially in the final frame, and made 32 saves on 36 shots in a valiant losing effort.
The visitors set the tone early. Just over a minute into the contest, Island's Nolan Jensen, assisted by Hunter Yanick and Dawson Power, found the back of the net to give his team a lead they would never relinquish. The game remained a tight, physical battle through the first half, with penalties assessed to both sides. Island broke the game open in the second period when Carter Stamp-Vincent, set up again by the playmaking of Hunter Yanick, doubled the lead. Yanick wasn't finished, as he would finish the night with three primary assists, a dominant performance in setting up his teammates.
Any hope of an Okanagan comeback was extinguished in a dominant third period by Island HC, who outshot their hosts 18-8. Carter Stamp-Vincent netted his second of the game, this time from Jason Backman, to make it 3-0. Just over a minute later, Ian Jaksch converted another Yanick helper to put the game completely out of reach at 4-0. The frustration mounted for Okanagan, resulting in a parade to the penalty box in the final ten minutes, including misconducts to Hendrix Whittle and Cale Cross. In the end, Island HC's structured game, highlighted by Parmar's shutout and Yanick's brilliant vision, proved far too much for Okanagan to handle on this night.
