Island HC Edges Titans in Overtime Thriller

In a back-and-forth Junior Prospects Hockey League battle, the 18U AAA Island HC squad outlasted the Titans Hockey Union in a 5-4 overtime victory. The game was a tale of two halves, with Island HC dominating the shot count early and building a lead, only to see the Titans mount a fierce comeback. The first period was a defensive clinic from Island HC, who outshot the Titans 13-3, but it was the second period where the offense exploded. Brendon Daniels opened the scoring, followed quickly by Carter Stamp-Vincent. The Titans responded immediately with Wesley Lizotte cutting the lead, but Louis Prystupa and the Titans' Sheldon Kucy traded goals to keep the game tight heading into the final frame.

The third period saw the Titans complete their comeback, seizing momentum with early and late goals. Owen Bashow scored just 61 seconds into the period to tie the game, and Luc Rodrigue gave the Titans their first lead with just over three minutes remaining, silencing the home crowd. However, with their goalie pulled for an extra attacker and on a late power play, Island HC delivered a dramatic equalizer. Louis Prystupa netted his second of the game with a mere four seconds left on the clock, sending the game to overtime and sending the home fans into a frenzy.

Goaltender Aneel Parmar was a wall for Island HC, turning aside 29 of 33 shots for the victory, while his counterpart Ethan Cornelius made 35 saves in a valiant losing effort for the Titans.
