The Langley HA 18U AAA squad delivered a commanding performance on home ice, overwhelming the Calgary Rockies with an 8-1 victory in a game that showcased their offensive depth and disciplined play. The first period saw both teams trade penalties but no goals, with Langley outshooting Calgary 16-10. The floodgates finally opened in the second period when Liam Keith broke the deadlock with an even-strength goal, assisted by Riley Sytsma and Jackson Schroeder. Calgary’s Nolan Van Waes briefly responded to make it 1-1, but Langley quickly regained control with back-to-back goals from Mathew Gordon—the eventual game-winner—and Dávid Szilágyi, sending the home team into the second intermission with a 3-1 lead.
Langley’s relentless pressure continued into the third period, where they exploded for five unanswered goals. Logan Boudot, Dávid Szilágyi with his second of the night, and Sevak Gill all found the back of the net in quick succession, extending the lead to 6-1. Kaden West and Ryan Morris added insurance tallies late, capping off a dominant 22-shot period for Langley. The Rockies struggled to contain Langley’s balanced attack, which saw nine different players record points, including multi-point efforts from Sevak Gill, Ryan Morris, and Carden Fraser.
The game was not without its physical edge, as tensions boiled over in the third period with a series of roughing minors and misconducts handed to players on both sides, including Langley’s Ethan Maglio and Calgary’s Liam Beswick. Despite the chippy play, Langley’s Colton Bush stood tall between the pipes, turning aside all but one of Calgary’s 33 shots to secure the win. For the Rockies, Cooper Schmidt faced a barrage of 54 shots and was left with little support as Langley’s offense proved too much to handle in a decisive team victory.
