The 18U AAA Coquitlam HC delivered a commanding defensive performance to blank the EPIC Hockey Academy 3-0 in Junior Prospects Hockey League action. While EPIC came out firing with an impressive 18-shot barrage in the first period, Coquitlam netminder Malcolm Katuski stood tall, turning aside every opportunity in what would become a perfect 41-save shutout. The game remained scoreless through the opening frame despite EPIC's offensive pressure and an interference penalty to Tommy Kalogiannis, setting the stage for a tense middle period.
The deadlock was finally broken midway through the second period when LJ Edmondson found the back of the net, with assists from Xander Dibble and Dexter Jung. That goal proved to be the game-winner as Coquitlam began to seize control. The third period saw Coquitlam extend their lead with Matteo Kokkas converting a setup from Jacob Keller at the 13:37 mark, followed by Markus Halliwell's insurance goal just over three minutes later, assisted by Brady Desharnais and Brennan Peppler.
The final frame grew increasingly chippy with multiple roughing minors and an unsportsmanlike conduct call against EPIC's Blake Lalande. Despite pulling goalie Haydn Taylor for an extra attacker late, EPIC couldn't solve the brick wall that was Katuski. The Coquitlam netminder's flawless performance, combined with timely scoring from throughout the lineup, secured the convincing road victory while EPIC's early offensive surge ultimately went unrewarded against Coquitlam's disciplined defensive structure.
