The Langley HA special teams were the story of the night, powering their way to a convincing 5-1 road victory over Okanagan HC. The game was a penalty-filled affair, particularly in the third period, and Langley capitalized ruthlessly. They opened the scoring late in the first period on the power play, as Dávid Szilágyi, assisted by Logan Boudot and Mathew Gordon, found the back of the net. The game-winner came early in the second period at even strength, courtesy of Kaleb Beson, with helpers from Lochlann Van Horn and Ethan Maglio, giving Langley a 2-0 lead they would never relinquish.
Okanagan HC showed a brief spark of life early in the third period. Just nine seconds after a Langley penalty, Hendrix Whittle converted on the power play, assisted by Linden Rogers and Sahaj Pannu, to cut the deficit to 2-1. Any hope of a comeback was swiftly extinguished, however, as Langley responded with two more power-play goals in quick succession. First, Logan Boudot scored, assisted by Riley Sytsma, to restore the two-goal cushion. Just over two minutes later, Nolan Oxtoby struck on the man advantage, with Jackson Schroeder and Hudson Wright picking up the assists, pushing the lead to 4-1. Oxtoby would add an empty-netter in the final seconds, assisted by goalie Colton Bush, to seal the 5-1 final.
The penalty boxes saw plenty of traffic, with Okanagan taking six minors to Langley's five. The physical, chippy nature of the third period, which featured four combined penalties in a five-minute span, ultimately worked in Langley's favor as they scored three times with the extra attacker. While Okanagan's William Marshall faced a barrage of 40 shots in the loss, Langley's Colton Bush was a wall at the other end, turning aside 37 of 38 shots to backstop his team to a decisive victory built on disciplined special teams execution.
