The 18U AAA Bow Valley HC used a relentless attack and superior special teams to secure a decisive 4-1 road victory over the Kootenay HA. The game was a story of two goalies, with Bow Valley's Ivan Tourin turning in a near-perfect performance, stopping 27 of 28 shots for the win. At the other end, Kootenay's Kingston Cuell faced a barrage, making 36 saves on 40 shots, but his team's offense couldn't match the visitors' efficiency.
Kootenay actually struck first, as Andrew Misson found the back of the net early in the first period, assisted by Bryce Birmingham and Wyatt Borys. However, Bow Valley answered back quickly. Just over five minutes later, Rylan Wold tied the game, with helpers from Caden Klappe and Connor Eeles. The turning point came in the second period, where Bow Valley's special teams took over. With Kootenay's Parker Labossiere in the box for hooking, Wayne Sun capitalized on the power play, assisted by Daniel Dvorácek and Vojtech Bulat. Then, in a stunning shorthanded effort, Vojtech Bulat scored himself, set up by Rylan Wold, to give Bow Valley a commanding 3-1 lead heading into the final frame.
The third period saw Kootenay's discipline falter, taking three consecutive minors. Bow Valley made them pay on one of those opportunities, as Reid Schmalz buried a power-play goal, assisted by Simon Vicen and Keegan Bailey, to seal the game at 4-1. Despite outshooting Bow Valley in the first period, Kootenay's offense was stifled for the final forty minutes, managing only 15 shots total in the second and third. A parade to the penalty box, including minors to Ollie D'Amour, Alex Johnson, and Hank Johnsen, prevented any comeback momentum. Bow Valley's balanced attack and clinical finishing on both the power play and penalty kill proved to be the ultimate difference in a convincing team victory.
