Coquitlam HC Dominates Okanagan in Commanding 5-1 Victory

The Coquitlam HC 15U AAA squad delivered a commanding performance on home ice, overwhelming the Okanagan HC team with a decisive 5-1 victory. From the opening faceoff, Coquitlam established their dominance, outshooting Okanagan 15-3 in the first period and setting the tone for what would become a lopsided affair. Despite the early pressure, the game remained scoreless through the first frame, with Okanagan's goaltender Tyson Magnan facing a barrage of shots while Coquitlam's Jack Swan stood firm at the other end.

The floodgates finally opened in the second period as Coquitlam erupted for four unanswered goals. Brayden Sloan broke the deadlock just 59 seconds into the period, converting a setup from Linden Yap for what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Cohen Hicks then took over, scoring twice in the period—first assisted by Gavin Havard, then later by Akay Mellios. Yoel Moon added another even-strength marker late in the period, with Keegan Sabo and Rayhan Patel earning helpers, sending Coquitlam to the second intermission with a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Okanagan managed to break through on the power play early in the third period when Taylor Linde converted a feed from Kier Lewis, but any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished when Oliver Deering restored Coquitlam's four-goal cushion midway through the final frame. Despite Okanagan pushing hard in the third with 15 shots, Swan remained unbeaten at even strength to secure the convincing win. The game featured several penalties, including boarding minors to Minjun Kang and Brayden Sloan for Coquitlam, but special teams played only a minor role in the outcome as Coquitlam's even-strength dominance proved too much for the visitors to handle.
