Coquitlam HC came out firing on all cylinders, outshooting Island HC 15-7 in the first period, but it was a scoreless opening frame thanks to stellar goaltending from Island's Archer Mah. The breakthrough finally came in the second period when Linden Yap buried an even-strength goal at 17:05, assisted by Gavin Havard and Dominik Udovicic. Coquitlam continued their offensive pressure, outshooting Island 17-8 in the middle frame, but Mah stood tall to keep his team within one heading into the final period.
The third period saw Coquitlam seize control for good. Just 45 seconds in, Linden Yap struck again with the game-winning goal, this time assisted by Brayden Sloan. Rayhan Patel extended the lead to 3-0 midway through the period with help from Cohen Hicks. Island finally broke Cooper Rawson's shutout bid when Easton Lafrance scored with just 1:28 remaining, assisted by Ben Broekhuizen and Austin Aydon. Any hope of a late comeback was extinguished just five seconds later when Keegan Sabo iced the game with an empty-net goal, sealing the 4-1 victory for Coquitlam.
The game featured several penalties, including a second-period game misconduct to Island's Cody Jones that left his team shorthanded. The physical play escalated dramatically as time expired, resulting in multiple roughing minors and misconducts for both teams, including a game misconduct to Island's Tieryn Taylor-Savard. Cooper Rawson was solid in net for Coquitlam, turning aside 27 of 28 shots for the win, while Archer Mah delivered an impressive 57-save performance in a losing effort for Island HC.
