The 15U AAA Victoria HA put on a clinic at both ends of the ice, cruising to a decisive 6-2 victory over the visiting Okanagan HC. From the opening faceoff, Victoria established a relentless forecheck and a significant shot advantage, outshooting Okanagan 15-8 in the first period. Their aggressive play paid off early when Greyson Finlay-Johnson, wearing #96, opened the scoring with a crucial shorthanded goal midway through the first period, seizing momentum for the home side. Just minutes later, on the power play, Greyson Robertson (#14) doubled the lead, sending Victoria into the first intermission with a commanding 2-0 advantage and all the confidence.
The middle frame was a penalty-filled affair that saw both teams trade chances but fail to light the lamp, thanks in large part to the stellar goaltending of Victoria's Lauren Coppinger. The netminder was a brick wall, turning aside all 31 shots she faced to earn a well-deserved shutout, a performance that completely stifled Okanagan's attack. The game truly broke open in the third period. Finlay-Johnson struck again early, netting the game-winner, and Dylan Tang (#13) followed just 38 seconds later to make it 4-0. Okanagan finally solved the riddle on the power play, with Landon Jebb (#22) and Oliver LaRoy (#7) scoring to cut the deficit in half, but any hope of a comeback was quickly extinguished. Victoria's Owen McFadden (#71) responded with a shorthanded goal of his own, and William King (#24) sealed the deal with an empty-netter, assisted by Samual Ford and Edwin Gourlay.
The game grew increasingly chippy as the score widened, with Victoria's Greyson Finlay-Johnson receiving a major penalty and a misconduct for an illegal check to the head in the third period. Despite the physical play and numerous penalties, Victoria's discipline in their own zone and Coppinger's flawless goaltending were the stories of the night. The home team's ability to score at even strength, on the power play, and shorthanded proved too much for Okanagan to handle, as Victoria skated away with a convincing statement win.
