From the opening puck drop, Edmonton established their dominance, outshooting Calgary 18-5 in the first period alone. The breakthrough came midway through the opening frame when Keagan St. Cyr found the back of the net, assisted by Logan Lankoff, giving Edmonton a lead they would never relinquish. The period saw plenty of physical play with six minor penalties called between the teams, but neither side could capitalize on the power play opportunities.
Edmonton continued their offensive onslaught in the second period, adding two more even-strength goals to their tally. Jack McGean doubled the lead early in the period, followed by Ryler White who scored just eight seconds after serving a double minor for kneeing.
