The game started with a bang as Calgary's Kiefer Tangedal silenced the home crowd just 18 seconds into the first period, capitalizing on a quick start for the visitors. Despite Edmonton dominating the shot count 12-4 in the opening frame, they couldn't solve Rockies netminder Lucas Lokanc, who stood tall under early pressure. The physicality ramped up significantly in the second period, highlighted by a major penalty and game misconduct to Edmonton's Jesse Mudryk for a check from behind at 11:44, forcing the home team to kill a lengthy penalty that tested their resilience.
