The game was a back-and-forth affair early, with Coquitlam's Cohen Hicks opening the scoring just under nine minutes into the first period. Bow Valley responded quickly, however, as Keets McBurney and Nathan Hilderman scored within two and a half minutes of each other to give the visitors a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Coquitlam's Luca Allegretto, assisted by Hicks and Jaxon Robinson, tied the game early in the second period, setting the stage for a crucial turning point.
The middle frame was marred by penalties for the home team, and Bow Valley's power play made them pay. With Coquitlam's Oliver Deering in the box for hooking, Radim Javurek converted on the man advantage, assisted by Barron Mellon and Evan Barnett, to score what would stand as the game-winning goal. The visitors added another before the period ended, with Jakub Kreml finding the net off a feed from Milan Liptaj and Erik Rosvold to take a commanding 4-2 lead into the final period. Bow Valley's Graesen Popp was a wall in net, turning aside all 23 shots he faced to earn the win, while his counterpart, Jack Swan, faced a barrage of 31 shots from the Bow Valley attack.
Any hope of a Coquitlam comeback was extinguished in the third period when Beckham Reade scored for Bow Valley, assisted by Hilderman and Elliott Irwin, to seal the 5-2 final. Discipline proved to be a key factor, as Coquitlam took five minor penalties to Bow Valley's two, with the visitors capitalizing on one of those opportunities. Despite a valiant effort and a late push that saw them outshoot Bow Valley 9-8 in the third, Coquitlam couldn't solve Popp again, as Bow Valley skated away with a well-earned two points.
