The 15U AAA Island HC squad came out firing on all cylinders and never looked back, cruising to an 8-3 victory over Okanagan HC in a game defined by offensive firepower and special teams play. Island HC set the tone early, with Cameron Thompson opening the scoring just over seven minutes into the first period, assisted by Cayden Rainford. Austin Aydon doubled the lead shortly after, finishing a setup from Bevan Ansley. Okanagan managed to get on the board with a power-play goal from Tyler Reszitnyk after an Island penalty, but the home team’s relentless pressure was undeniable, outshooting the visitors 14-8 in the opening frame.
The second period saw Island HC continue their offensive onslaught. Austin Aydon netted his second of the game early on, showing his scoring touch with an assist from Graeme McKenzie. Okanagan’s Oliver LaRoy answered back to keep his team within reach, but Island’s power play unit struck late in the period. With just 49 seconds left, Easton Lafrance capitalized on a man-advantage, assisted by the hot hand of Aydon, to give Island HC a comfortable 4-2 lead heading into the final period.
Any hopes of an Okanagan comeback were quickly extinguished in the third. Although LaRoy scored his second of the game early to make it 4-3, Island HC responded with a devastating four-goal run. Tieryn Taylor-Savard started the rally, followed by a goal from Bevan Ansley. Cayden Rainford then scored an unassisted marker before Samuel Howarth sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, assisted by Cody Jones and Easton Lafrance. Island HC’s offensive depth was on full display, with Lafrance and Ben Broekhuizen each tallying two assists, while their shot dominance—46 total to Okanagan’s 28—told the story of a team in complete control from start to finish.
