In a Junior Prospects Hockey League clash that had everything, the 15U AAA Okanagan HC battled back from a third-period deficit to claim a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over the 15U AAA Coquitlam HC. The game was a goaltending duel from the start, with Okanagan's Sanjay Basdeo and Coquitlam's Cooper Rawson putting on a clinic. Despite being outshot 16-8 in the opening frame, Basdeo kept his team in it, allowing Okanagan to strike first on the power play. Oliver LaRoy, wearing #7, opened the scoring late in the first, assisted by Connor Steele and Cameron Reynolds. Coquitlam responded quickly, however, as Sora Kodama evened the score before the period ended.
The second period saw the special teams battle continue. LaRoy struck again on the man-advantage, with Steele picking up another helper, to restore Okanagan's lead. Coquitlam's power play unit answered back, with Dominik Udovicic tying the game at 2-2. The physical play ramped up, with both teams taking multiple minors, including a bench minor for too many players against Okanagan. The tension carried into the third, where Coquitlam seemed to seize control. Shortly after an unsportsmanlike penalty to Okanagan's Sam Hopkins, Coquitlam's Luca Allegretto capitalized on the ensuing power play to give his team its first lead of the night at 3-2.
Refusing to go quietly, Okanagan showed tremendous resilience. Just seconds after falling behind, Braxtyn Bradley, the #18, found the back of the net off a feed from Desmond Croy to knot the game at 3-3 and send the home crowd into a frenzy. The final minutes of regulation were a frantic back-and-forth, with both Basdeo and Rawson making key saves to force overtime. In the extra frame, the hero was Connor Steele. The playmaker turned scorer, finishing off a setup from Oliver LaRoy and Cameron Reynolds just over a minute into the 4-on-4 session to secure the game-winning goal and a hard-fought two points for Okanagan.
