In a tense, low-scoring affair at the rink, the 15U AAA Island HC squad edged out the 15U AAA Victoria HA by a final score of 2-1. The home team set the tone early, striking twice in the first period to build a lead they would never relinquish. Just over a minute into the game, Austin Chute, wearing number 10, opened the scoring with an assist from Austin Aydon. The Islanders doubled their advantage midway through the period when Ben Broekhuizen, number 4, found the back of the net, with helpers from Easton Lafrance and Cameron Thompson. That goal would ultimately stand as the game-winner, as Victoria's goalie Brandon Feng settled in after the early barrage, facing a total of 19 shots for the night.
Victoria HA fought back hard, tilting the ice in their favor as the game progressed. After being outshot 8-4 in the first, they poured on 18 shots over the final two periods, testing Island HC netminder Archer Mah relentlessly. Mah was the story for the home side, turning aside 21 of 22 shots to secure the victory. His lone blemish came early in the third period when Victoria's Greyson Robertson, number 14, finally solved him to cut the deficit to 2-1. Robertson's night, however, would end early; just minutes after his goal, he was assessed a minor for unsportsmanlike conduct and a ten-minute misconduct, a costly loss for Victoria's comeback attempt.
The game was a physical one, with penalties playing a key role. Victoria's Samual Ford took an early cross-checking minor, and a bench minor for too many players late in the first period hampered their early push. Island HC's Russo Smith was whistled twice, first for an illegal check to the head in the second period and later for hooking in the third, as the home team focused on protecting their slim lead. Despite a late power play chance after Victoria's Markus Long was called for tripping, the visitors couldn't find the equalizer against the stout defense and stellar goaltending of Archer Mah, who backstopped Island HC to a hard-fought two points.
