The tone was set early when Sebastian Compri, assisted by Ty Lajeunesse and Kasey Youzwa, found the back of the net at 8:27 of the first period for what would stand as the game-winning goal. The Rockies' Kashton Calmusky took an interference penalty shortly after, but the Titans' Easton Shewchuk also served a tripping minor, keeping the period relatively even in terms of chances. However, the shot clock told a different story, with the Titans beginning to assert their offensive pressure.
