The Lloydminster Athletics and Northstars HA treated fans to a wild, back-and-forth contest that saw the home team skate away with a 7-4 victory. The Athletics set the tone early, with Alexander Roy opening the scoring midway through the first period. Kypton Farkash doubled the lead before the frame was out, with Jakob Currier picking up the first of his three assists on the night. The physical play was evident from the start, with penalties for boarding, checking from behind, and a bench minor for too many players adding an edge to the opening twenty minutes.
The second period saw the Athletics continue their offensive push. Scarlett Aultman buried an even-strength goal, again assisted by the playmaking of Jakob Currier. The Northstars finally got on the board when Connor Fudge scored, with helpers from Jacob Stone and Landen Goebel. Just before the intermission, however, the Athletics capitalized on a power play. Riddick Ford netted the goal, with Aultman returning the favor with an assist, restoring the two-goal cushion and giving Lloydminster a 4-1 lead heading into the final period.
The third period was an offensive explosion, with six combined goals lighting the lamp. The Northstars came out swinging on the power play, with Connor Fudge scoring his second of the game to cut the deficit to two. The Athletics responded immediately, as Liam Sydia scored just 43 seconds later to quiet the Northstars' momentum. Kyle Courtney brought the Northstars back within two, but Dylan Polson delivered a crucial shorthanded goal for the Athletics, assisted by Riddick Ford and Blake Lovberg, to seemingly put the game out of reach. Mathéo Ross scored on the ensuing power play for the Northstars, but Mason Morin sealed the 7-4 win for Lloydminster with a final even-strength marker, completing a hat trick of assists for the dominant Jakob Currier. Despite being outshot 41-29, the Athletics' offense proved too potent, securing an important two points in the standings.
