The 14U AAA Titans Hockey Union came out firing on all cylinders in their home rink, unleashing a staggering 24-shot barrage in the first period against Bow Valley HC. Despite the relentless pressure, it was the visitors who struck first. Late in the period, Bow Valley's Brodie Breault, assisted by Kai Lorenzo III and Mikko Nicol, found the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission. The second period saw the game's physicality escalate, with a flurry of roughing minors and a major spearing double minor assessed to Bow Valley's Lorenzo. The Titans, however, couldn't capitalize on their extended power play. Instead, Bow Valley extended their lead with an early goal from Ethan Stewart and a power-play marker from Brett Gach, with Lorenzo picking up another helper. The Titans finally got on the board when Reid Huscroft, set up by Maddox Peddle, cut the deficit to 3-1. In the final minute of the period, Brody Andruchow, with an assist from Joshua Peddle, brought the Titans within one, setting up a dramatic third period.
The Titans carried their momentum into the final frame. Just under six minutes in, captain Ridge Stevenson, assisted by Max Bannink, completed the comeback to tie the game at 3-3. The period was a tense, back-and-forth affair with both goalies, Kolt Elanik for the Titans and Nolan Wilde for Bow Valley, coming up with key saves to force overtime. Bow Valley had dominated the shot clock in the second and third periods, outshooting the Titans 34-17, and that pressure finally told in the extra session. At the 3:40 mark of overtime, Kai Lorenzo III, who had been involved in all aspects of the game, redeemed his earlier penalty trouble by firing home the game-winning goal, assisted by Hudson Nickel, to seal a hard-fought 4-3 victory for Bow Valley HC.
The game was a tale of two different strategies and standout performances. The Titans' early offensive onslaught was impressive, but they were ultimately undone by Bow Valley's resilience and ability to capitalize on chances. Nolan Wilde was stellar in the Bow Valley net, turning aside 39 of 42 shots for the win, including several crucial stops in the third period and overtime. For the Titans, Kolt Elanik made 47 saves on 51 shots in a valiant losing effort. Kai Lorenzo III was the undeniable catalyst for Bow Valley, contributing a goal, two assists, and the game-winner, overcoming a challenging second period to be the hero.
