The Surrey Eagles 14U AAA team delivered a commanding performance on home ice, cruising to a 6-1 victory over Island HC. The Eagles set the tone early, unleashing a barrage of 21 shots in the first period. Brayden Bains opened the scoring on the power play, assisted by Xander McQueen, giving Surrey a lead they would never relinquish. Austin Liu doubled the advantage with an even-strength goal, with helpers from Isaak Toews and Parvaan Dulai. The physicality began to ramp up as the period wore on, with Island HC taking two minor penalties and Liu also taking an elbowing minor late in the frame.
The second period saw the game's most significant turning point. Just past the midway mark, Austin Liu was assessed a major penalty for charging and a subsequent game misconduct, forcing the Eagles to kill a lengthy five-minute penalty. Despite being a man down for an extended period, Surrey's penalty kill was stellar, and they even extended their lead. Xander McQueen capitalized on a power play in the final minute of the period, assisted by Nyxton Sunner, to make it 3-0. The period was marred by penalties, with Surrey's Kayden Sran taking two minors and Cristian Phillips also serving time, while Island's Wade Sangara was called for roughing.
Any hope of an Island HC comeback was extinguished in the third period as the Eagles' offense exploded for three more goals. Spencer Nason, Daniel Culbert, and Brayden Bains—who finished with two goals and two assists—all found the back of the net. Bains' second of the game came on the power play, completing a multi-point night for McQueen, Sunner, and Culbert as well. Parvaan Dulai also chipped in with two assists in a strong supporting role. Island HC managed to break the shutout bid of Eagles goalie Austin Wilson very late, as Liam McNaughton scored with just over a minute remaining. Wilson was a wall in net, turning aside all 21 shots he faced for the win, while the Eagles' special teams were the difference-maker, going 3-for-6 on the power play in a comprehensive team victory.
