Langley HA Outlasts Calgary Rockies in High-Scoring Affair

The 14U AAA Langley HA skated to a hard-fought 5-3 victory over the Calgary Rockies in a game that featured plenty of offense and physical play. Langley set the tone early, with Siwoo Song opening the scoring just under six minutes into the first period. Reilly Grisdale and Brett Bailey would also find the back of the net for the visitors, but the Rockies showed resilience. Zander Schultz answered for Calgary, cutting the deficit and keeping his team within striking distance after a frantic first period that ended with Langley holding a 3-1 lead.

The second period saw the offenses continue to trade blows. Langley's Samarpreet Hansra restored the three-goal cushion, but the Rockies mounted a comeback attempt. Zander Schultz netted his second goal of the game, showcasing his offensive prowess, and Brixtin Cenaiko scored with just eight seconds left in the period to bring the Rockies within one. However, a power-play goal from Langley's Jack Walker, assisted by Dane Player, proved to be a critical response that gave Langley a two-goal buffer heading into the final frame.

The third period was marked by escalating tensions and penalties, ultimately halting Calgary's momentum. The Rockies were handed a major setback when Brady Roth received a 12-minute penalty for an illegal check to the head, which included a misconduct. Playing a significant portion of the period shorthanded, the Rockies could not solve Langley's goalie Axton Charboneau again, despite firing 16 shots in the period. Charboneau stood tall to secure the win, while Langley's disciplined play with a lead in the final twenty minutes sealed the important road victory.
