The Calgary Rockies delivered a commanding performance on the road, blanking the Victoria HA 5-0 in a game that was defined by their offensive onslaught and disciplined play. From the opening puck drop, the Rockies set the tone, outshooting Victoria 23-3 in the first period alone. Sawyer Sewell got the visitors on the board just 20 seconds into the game, assisted by Brixtin Cenaiko and Finn O'Hara, signaling the start of a long night for the home team. Zander Schultz doubled the lead midway through the period, with helpers from Fisher Reeves and Anton Mitchell, giving Calgary a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into the intermission.
The second period saw the Rockies continue their relentless pressure. Luke Baldwin extended the lead with a goal assisted by Schultz, and shortly after, Charlie Fisher found the back of the net, with Memphis Jagodich and Hudson Hanley providing the setup. The special teams also came through for Calgary, as Sawyer Sewell netted his second goal of the game on the power play, with Cenaiko and Jagodich picking up their second assists of the night. Victoria’s penalty kill was tested repeatedly, and a boarding minor by Randy (RJ) Mattin late in the period proved costly, leading directly to the power-play tally.
While the third period saw no change on the scoreboard, it was not without incident, as tempers flared leading to several roughing minors and misconducts, including a second misconduct for Victoria's Sebastian Byram. In net, Jacob Derdall was perfect for the Rockies, turning aside all 12 shots he faced to earn the shutout victory. For Victoria, George Boyle faced an incredible 46 shots and made 41 saves in a valiant effort, but his team’s offense could not muster a response against a stifling Calgary defense. The Rockies' well-rounded attack, highlighted by multi-point games from Sawyer Sewell, Zander Schultz, Brixtin Cenaiko, and Memphis Jagodich, proved far too much for the home side to handle on this night.
