The 14U AAA South Sask HC squad set the tone early in a commanding 6-3 victory over the Calgary Rockies. Just 16 seconds into the game, South Sask was handed a power play opportunity after a check from behind penalty on Dionysus Adrian. They capitalized almost immediately, with Gavin Mackow finding the back of the net, assisted by Rowen Istace, to give the home team a lead they would never relinquish. The Rockies answered back midway through the period when Grant Lalonde scored, with helpers from Brady Roth and Calder Lalonde, knotting the game at one. The period saw another penalty, this time for interference on South Sask's Mackow, but the frame ended with the teams locked in a tight battle.
The second period proved to be the turning point, as South Sask HC exploded for three goals to take firm control of the game. Dax Perkins started the onslaught, assisted by Cal Schwabe and Rowen Istace, who picked up his second helper of the night. The Rockies' Jason Hicks responded just 32 seconds later to keep his team within one, but South Sask's Oaklen Rogers took over from there. Rogers scored two crucial even-strength goals, with his first assisted by Gavin Mackow and his second coming from a setup by Will Thomlinson and another assist from Mackow, giving the home team a comfortable 4-2 lead heading into the final frame.
Any hopes of a Rockies comeback were dashed in the third period as South Sask continued their offensive clinic. Will Thomlinson got on the scoresheet with a goal of his own, assisted by Dax Perkins and Ethan Lloyd. Bryce Scrupps then extended the lead further, with Cal Schwabe earning his second assist. A late interference penalty on Keaton Keith gave the Rockies a chance, and Grant Lalonde capitalized for his second goal of the game, assisted by Dionysus Adrian and Calder Lalonde. It was too little, too late, however, as South Sask HC skated to a decisive 6-3 win, powered by multi-point nights from Gavin Mackow, Oaklen Rogers, and Rowen Istace.
