Victoria HA Outlasts Island HC in High-Scoring 14U AAA Thriller

In a back-and-forth offensive showcase, Victoria HA emerged with a 7-4 victory over Island HC in a Junior Prospects Hockey League matchup that saw both teams trade blows from the opening faceoff. The game started with a flurry of goals as Reef Cegnar opened the scoring for Island HC early in the first period, only to have Randy (RJ) Mattin answer back for Victoria just two minutes later. Niko Stamatakis then gave Victoria their first lead with a goal midway through the period, but Liam McNaughton quickly tied it up for Island HC. Stamatakis would strike again late in the period, giving Victoria a 3-2 lead heading into the first intermission after a period that saw both teams take multiple penalties.

The second period saw Victoria extend their lead with goals from Austin Joyce and Jaxon Potvin, with Potvin's marker proving to be the game-winner. Victoria's offensive pressure was relentless, outshooting Island HC 14-5 in the middle frame and capitalizing on their opportunities. The third period saw Island HC mount a comeback attempt as Reef Cegnar completed his hat trick with both a power play goal and an even-strength tally, bringing the score to 5-4 and putting pressure on Victoria down the stretch.

However, Victoria showed their resilience in the final minutes, with Jayce Ward and Randy (RJ) Mattin both scoring in the last 67 seconds to seal the victory.
