The Victoria HA put on a special teams clinic on the road, defeating the Lloydminster Athletics 4-1 in a game where power plays and penalty kills told the story. The game started with Victoria capitalizing early on a man-advantage, as Lincoln Beaumont buried a power-play goal at the 2:23 mark of the first period, assisted by Wyatt Carnie and Jacob Heinonen. The Athletics struggled with discipline throughout the contest, with Tyler Mercredi taking two minors in the first period alone, setting a tense tone. Despite both teams firing 9 shots in the opening frame, Victoria's efficient power play gave them a lead they would never relinquish.
The middle frame was a tight-checking affair with Victoria holding a slim 11-9 shot advantage, but the score remained unchanged thanks to strong goaltending at both ends. The game broke open in the third period, however, as Victoria's offense came alive. Haze Helle extended the lead with an even-strength tally early in the period, followed by another power-play goal from Blake Sanderson, who was set up by Reggie Lott and Lincoln Beaumont. Lloydminster finally got on the board with a power-play goal of their own from Jacksen Aultman, assisted surprisingly by his own goalie Trycestan Loke, but any momentum was short-lived.
The game's final moments were marred by a serious incident, as Victoria's Lincoln Beaumont received a match penalty and game misconduct for an illegal check to the head with just 1:57 remaining. Despite being shorthanded from the major penalty, Victoria's Linden Alsdorf sealed the victory with a spectacular shorthanded goal with just 1:10 left on the clock. Caleb O'Gorman was a wall in net for Victoria, turning aside 34 of 35 shots for the win, while the Athletics' penalty troubles proved too much to overcome in a game dominated by Victoria's special teams execution.
