The 17U AAA Okanagan HC and Calgary Rockies delivered a playoff-intensity battle that required overtime to settle, with Okanagan emerging victorious in a 4-3 thriller. The game was a story of special teams, physical play, and a dramatic finish, as Okanagan's Memphis Rosette netted the game-winner on the power play just over a minute into the extra frame. The victory was hard-earned for Okanagan netminder Nicholas Cresswell, who turned aside 34 of 37 shots, while Calgary's Kyler Olsen was a workhorse, making 27 saves on 31 shots in a losing effort.
The game opened with Okanagan striking first, as Kaden LaRoy found the back of the net midway through the first period, assisted by Harry Watson and Jake Gagno. Calgary responded in the second period, with Cole Morgan tying the game, assisted by Lincoln Schultz and Cale Grummett. The momentum swung back to Okanagan quickly, however, as LaRoy struck again, this time on the power play, to restore the lead. Calgary's Beckham Hill answered with an unassisted even-strength goal to knot the game at 2-2, but the period ended in controversy. Hill was assessed a major and game misconduct for kneeing with just over three minutes left, putting his team down a key player for the remainder of the contest.
Calgary showed tremendous resolve in the third period, killing off the major penalty and then taking their first lead of the game on a power-play marker from Linden Cook, set up by Eric Kovacs and Chase Donnan. The lead was short-lived, as Okanagan's Harry Watson tied the game just 44 seconds later, with helpers from Jaxon Everett and Kayden Patkau. The physical, penalty-filled affair—which saw Grummett take three minors for Calgary—carried into overtime. There, with Grummett in the box for tripping, Okanagan's power play unit sealed the deal. Jaxon Everett, who had two assists already, and Kayden Patkau combined to set up captain Memphis Rosette for the decisive goal, capping a gritty, come-from-behind road victory for Okanagan HC.
