The Calgary Stallions used a potent power play and a standout performance from goaltender Matthew Tucker to secure a 4-1 victory over the Okanagan HC. The game began with a quick exchange, as Okanagan’s Mason Casorso opened the scoring just under five minutes into the first period, assisted by Jake Gagno. The Stallions responded swiftly, with Oliver Kendall knotting the game at 1-1, finishing a play set up by Quint Myers and Lucas Derdall. The turning point came in the second period when Okanagan’s penalty troubles began. With Andrew Wilson in the box for boarding, Lucas Derdall capitalized on the man-advantage, firing home a power-play goal with assists from Cade Bouchard and Elliott Wilson to give Calgary a lead they would not relinquish.
The third period saw the Stallions pull away, again thanks to their special teams. Another penalty to Okanagan’s Andrew Wilson, this time for interference, proved costly. Just over a minute into the power play, Tripp Gillespie found the back of the net, with Jakob Pugliese and Cody Callison picking up the helpers. Gillespie wasn't finished, adding an even-strength goal later in the period, again assisted by Pugliese, to give Calgary a commanding 4-0 lead. While Okanagan’s captain Kayden Patkau and assistant Jaxon Everett helped set up a late consolation goal from Memphis Rosette, it was too little, too late.
The story of the game, however, was written in the crease. Calgary’s Matthew Tucker was a perfect 30-for-30, turning aside every shot he faced to record a shutout in a complete team effort. On the other side, Okanagan’s Nicholas Cresswell faced a relentless 28 shots, with the Stallions' power play proving the ultimate difference-maker. Despite a strong second period where Okanagan outshot Calgary 14-7, they could not solve Tucker, whose stellar goaltending provided the foundation for a decisive home-ice win for the Calgary Stallions.
