The 17U AAA Coquitlam HC skated to a hard-fought 5-3 victory over the Titans Hockey Union in a game that featured explosive offense and a flurry of late penalties. The game got off to a flying start, with Coquitlam's Keenen Canales scoring two quick goals in the first period, both assisted by xavier sedor-steer, to establish an early lead. The Titans, however, showed their resilience. Chayce Adams got the home team on the board, and just before the period ended, Athan Kyle scored with helpers from Shepard Lehto and Brady Critchley to tie the game, setting the stage for a dramatic middle frame.
The second period was a back-and-forth battle. The Titans took their first lead of the game when Grayson Closson found the back of the net, assisted by Christian Russo. The lead was short-lived, however, as Coquitlam's Maxim Hunchuk answered just 29 seconds later, with Ethan Caputo and Dayton Holenstein picking up the assists, knotting the game at three apiece. The physicality began to ramp up in the period, with both teams taking minor penalties, foreshadowing a chaotic finish.
The final period belonged to Coquitlam's Ethan Caputo, who scored two even-strength goals to seal the victory. His first was assisted by Danwoo Kim and Charlie Pena, and his second, an insurance marker, was set up by Damien Nikal and Danwoo Kim again. The game's intensity boiled over in the final minute, resulting in a string of roughing minors and misconducts to players from both sides, including a 10-minute misconduct for Coquitlam's xavier sedor-steer and the Titans' Lincoln Bartel. Despite a strong 33-save performance from Titans goalie Healy Seibt, the offensive push from Coquitlam, who outshot the Titans 33-26, proved to be the difference.
