The Langley HA 17U AAA team delivered a commanding performance on home ice, overwhelming the Lloydminster Athletics with an 8-1 victory. From the opening puck drop, Langley established a relentless offensive presence, outshooting Lloydminster 18-2 in the first period alone. Ivan Latyshev opened the scoring midway through the first, setting the tone for what would become a one-sided affair. Mason Cvitkovich netted the game-winner just minutes later, assisted by Micah Sidhu and Ryan Morris, before Duncan Gronberg added another to give Langley a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
The second period saw Langley extend their dominance, capitalizing on a power play as KJ Raymond found the back of the net with help from Cashton Smith. Zachary Smith then scored unassisted to make it 5-0. The middle frame was marred by penalties, with both teams combining for seven infractions, including roughing minors to Cvitkovich, Smith, Kieran Reilly, and Ryder Greba that highlighted the growing frustration on the Lloydminster bench. Despite the chippy play, Langley’s defensive structure held firm, limiting the Athletics to just one shot in the period.
Any hope of a Lloydminster comeback was extinguished early in the third when Zachary Smith scored his second of the game just ten seconds into the period. Langley then showcased their special teams prowess with two shorthanded goals—first from Dominic Hall, and later from Ivan Latyshev with his second of the contest, both assisted by the playmaking Ryan Morris. Lloydminster finally broke through late when Jayce Fick scored to avoid the shutout, but it was little consolation in a game thoroughly controlled by Langley. Goaltender Aidan Lazazzera earned the win with a solid performance, while Langley’s balanced attack and disciplined—though physical—play secured a decisive victory.
