JPHL 4 for SZN 4 January 27
14U Northstars HA
Man of the North
Matheo Ross had a game for the ages.
The 14-year-old blew past the hat-trick milestone and didn’t stop until he reached 8 points.
Four goals and four helpers in a big victory for Northstars HA, where he was involved in 75% of the scoring.
The Fort McMurray product leads the HUB in goals with 17 and is second on the club in points. The Northstars went 2-2 in Edmonton and sit third in the Bouchier 14U AAA division, just one point up on Lloydminster, and one point back of South Sask HC.
14U South Sask HC
Oh Wow MacKow
Gavin MacKow wasn’t satisfied with just one Hatty, so he went and grabbed back-to-back hat-tricks, en route to a 15-point weekend.
MacKow opened the weekend with six points against Northstars Hockey Academy, then added three goals and an assist versus Coquitlam HC.
He now has goals and points in nine straight games, and his 57 points are tied with teammates Rowan Istace and Oaklan Rogers for first in the division.
15U Titans Hockey Union
True Aim
William Routledge admitted he doesn’t practice scoring goals very often, but when it was showtime, his aim was true.
Late in the Saturday night game, the Titans ‘tender became the first JPHL goalie to shoot a puck into an empty net.
Okanagan pulled the goalie for an extra attacker, and Routledge didn’t hesitate, resembling a young Ron Hextall, as he made history by firing the puck high and out of reach, while curling into the corner of the net.
The celebration was almost as good as the act, as Routledge simply couldn’t believe what he had just done.
15U Langley HA
The Nord Star
Mathias Nord led the way for Langley as they doubled up rival HC Edmonton 4-2 on Sunday.
Nord scored once and set up two others, extending his point streak to four games with six points during the span.
It was the second time Nord collected three points in a game. He now has five goals and 22 points in 23 games.
The steady defender helped Langley to a 3-1 weekend and stay on top of the Pacific Conference, as well. With the victory over Edmonton, they have now beaten every team in the division.
